Embodying Veiled Utterances
Thursday, 6 January 2022 12:00 pm
Saturday, 29 January 2022 4:00 pm
Show opening Saturday 15th, 5-7pm
A solo exhibition of work by Georgia Ruby Polichroniadis
Embodying Veiled Utterances, explores intimate encounters and existing relationships by translating the sentiment of conversations through the intuitive process of abstract embroidery. The works aim to capture the hidden and unspoken elements of conversation, rather than creating a literal translation. In this way, the works investigated how the process-driven craft of embroidery and participant-driven dialogue could work together to create an affective and meaningful connection between two people.
This exhibition is a glimpse into the world of the project, a reverberation of what has already occurred. The accumulation of processes in the project incorporates the elements of social practice, small gestures, the melding of art and life, and the ideas of process versus product, and hidden versus seen. Embodying Veiled Utterances sits within the waters of social practice, both responding to and creating affect.

Artists have studied the human form for centuries. Throughout art history, representations of the body are a recurring theme; whether it be realistic or abstracted, sculpted or painted, our fascination with the human body is clear. The body carries each and every one of us through our lives, grows and changes with us whilst baring the brunt of stresses and strains. Concepts of the body are interconnected with aging, sexuality, health and self-image. Join us as we explore how artists from all mediums have interpreted this powerful theme, in an exciting group show.

More Than a Sum of Her Parts
Thursday, 13 February 2020 6:00 pm
Wednesday, 26 February 2020 6:00 pm
A celebration of women and women identifying creators that forges a path inspiring the next generation of artists.
The historical praxis has relegated women as passive objects, most often as the subject of the art rather than the creators. This imbalance has started to be addressed with more recognition of the contribution of women artists, through written discourses and exhibitions that acknowledge their artistic merit.
More Than A Sum Of Her Part artists contribute works that add to the conversation surrounding the merit of women and women identifying artists, acknowledging an inclusive rather than limited view of who produces art.
Featuring artworks by:
Sally Bowen Art/ Georgia Ruby Polichroniadis/ Adriana Artmeier/ Mali Indigo Taylor/ Ashlea Bechaz/ Jo Lane/ Jessica Ledwich/ Christine Jones/ Joy Chiang/ Tammy Boyce/ Teshan Joy/ Christina Weerakoon/ Barbara Bolt/ Linda Schneider/ Arrayah Lloynd/ Cherie Medway/ Amy Mya/ Sona Lee
